A century of fashion is on offer in Tennants Auctioneers’ Costume, Accessories and Textiles Sale on 22nd August. In a sale focusing on costume, buyers will be offered a fabulous selection of outfits from the Victorian Era to the present day at affordable prices.
Richly colour silks of the Victorian era contrast with gauzy layers and delicate embroidery from the 1920s, elegantly tailored 1940s overcoats and printed cotton tea dresses from the 1950s. Men’s costume is included too, with silk dressing gowns, stripped cotton pyjamas and timeless tweed suits.
The sale also includes a Private Collection of elegant designer outfits and accessories, largely from Chanel, but featuring key pieces by Chloe, Gucci and Aquascutum. All immaculately presented and mostly in size 14, these classic outfits will tempt those looking to update their wardrobes affordably. Highlights of the collection include an iconic Chanel loose woven jacket in peaches and cream (estimate: £200-300) and a group of three simple and chic dresses by Chloe (estimate: £120-180). Sunglasses by Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Dior are joined by leather handbags and shoes by Salvatore Ferragamo.
Alongside live bidding in person, Tennants continue to offer digital alternatives for browsing and bidding.
