Don Powell From Slade Drum Kit consisting of four Ludwig stand mounted single Tom-Toms: 13" head, 12" deep no.305198, 14" head, 13" deep no.3051291, 15" head, 14" deep, no.3034761, 16" head, 15" deep no.3051985; Floor Tom-Tom 18" head, 16" deep no.3051348; a Premier Snare drum 14x 6 1/2" no.007903 and two Ludwig stands each taking two drums

With letter from Don Powell dated 12/1/89 stating:

To Whom It May Concern

This letter is to prove the set of maple wood tom-toms and chrome snare drums etc. belonged to Don Powell the drummer with the group Slade.

I used the drums in the studio from 1971 onwards for overdubs etc. on all our singles and LPs from that date up to the year 1988.

A Rare Smoking Gentleman Automaton, By Leopold Lamber French, circa 1890-5, with seated figure upon turned white stool, wig and moustache, painted papier-maché character head with inset glass eyes, dressed in red velvet jacket, cream lined and trimmed shirt with lace cuffs and cravat, black breeches and shoes, posed cross-legged and holding a cane, when a lit cigarette is placed into the holder and start/stop actuated, he turns head, lifts holder to lips, 'inhales' the smoke and turns ahead again whilst smoke exhausts from mouth, fez and country hats by his feet, on rush-matted red velvet-covered base, captive LB grip key to base side, some restoration undertaken to working condition, in case with glazed front - 24", 61cm high

Lot 164

A Fine Interchangeable 'Mandolin-Harpe-Expressive' Musical Box-On-Stand, By John Manger Ser. No. 14036, with the four cylinders playing six airs each, neatly reproduced tunesheets for each according to the correct Gammes, playing a very pleasing and wide programme of music, double-spring motor and the three-part comb with three-quarter zither attachment, on reeded cast gilt bedplate in ebonised interior with John Manger silvered plaque to compartment under dustlid, in superbly figured butterfly-cut burr maple veneered case, quadruple strung borders, the domed lid with deeper tonal burr cuts and central inlaid cartouche of coromandel, mother-or-pearl and brass, ebonised moulded edges, sat upon turned columned stand with load-bearing stretchers, undertier with box containing the other cylinders, restored to superb condition - 39in. wide, the cylinders 17.1/2in. and diameters 2.1/2in.

Schmidtchen on 1d. play, lane-choose feature for horse number and target within pinball field, colour bumpers, colour horse race backboard flanking lane number panels, in beech veneered case raised on legs - 51in.
