Adam is the specialist in charge of the Clocks and Barometers Department and the Watches Department, as well as being part of the general valuation team. Since joining Tennants in 2003, Adam has greatly developed his departments with his passion for horology. He has been responsible for several high-profile sales including the sale of the Gibson Clock Collection.
Adam is a qualified member of the British Horological Institute Society and is a member of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers Guild. He regularly gives talks and lectures on clocks and watches.
Adam began his career studying horology as a clock and watch maker in Manchester. Here he completed the three year Wostep (Watches of Switzerland Technical Education Program), regarded as the highest qualification in Swiss watchmaking. Adam has also been certified as a clockmaker by the British Horological Institute. In 2001 he moved into the auction industry, joining Christie’s South Kensington as a Watch Specialist. During his time at Christie’s Adam regularly travelled to Geneva and Amsterdam to work on major sales and collections and was made head of his department in 2002.
