The Picture Department handles significant British and European works from the 15th century to the early 20th century, incorporating Old Masters and period portraits, marine paintings and landscapes alongside Victorian and British Impressionist pictures sourced from illustrious estates, single owner collections and private vendors. The department has handled numerous important works in recent years, including new discoveries and significant works fresh to the auction market.

The department also specialises in Sporting Art by the likes of Alfred Munnings, Archibald Thorburn and Heywood Hardy, as well as handing important works by some of Yorkshire’s leading artists.
